Reality stars are everywhere you look nowadays. They’ve been gradually dominating celebrity culture for several years now, and their success is largely thanks to pioneers like Paris Hilton. She brought the concept of ‘famous for being famous’ into the 21st century, and that made her the star she is today. Of course, being such an icon, Hilton is never short on cash, and she’s never been afraid of spending her millions. What do you buy when you’re as rich as her, though?
A woman of many talents
She might not dominate the scene the way she used to, but there’s no denying that Paris is a true icon of our times. Love her or hate her, she changed celebrity culture in a massive way, and she’s been reaping the rewards of that for years.
When people think of Hilton, reality TV is probably the first thing that comes to mind. After all, her show with Nicole Richie – ‘The Simple Life’ – is one of the reasons she became such a huge star. However, while TV has definitely formed an essential part of her career, it’s hardly the only reason that Paris is famous. The socialite is also a savvy businesswoman, and she’s even turned her attention to DJing in recent years. So how much is she really worth?
Bringing home the bacon
For everything that she does, Hilton manages to walk away with a hefty paycheck. In 2014, she was listed as one of the world’s best-paid DJs after earning $1 million for playing just one set. On another occasion, she earned a whopping $2.7 million thanks to only four days of work.
Even though Paris didn’t need more money, people clearly thought her DJing skills were worth every cent. While this newer job pays well, though, it’s not where the socialite gets the majority of her income.
Making that money
With a net worth around $300 million, Paris has obviously made quite a bit of cash over the years. Clearly, part of that is family money as her great-grandfather was the man responsible for the Hilton hotel chain.
However, a large amount of it has come from her various retail businesses. The socialite apparently has around 50 stores dotted all over the world, all of which sell her numerous product lines. Considering the overall sales of these stores exceeds $3 billion, they understandably make a huge difference to her wealth.
With so much money to go around, what exactly does Paris do with it all? Well, one thing we know she loves to do is spend it on houses. Hilton has bought and sold quite a few properties over the years, including her $3 million mansion in Hollywood Hills.
She bought the place in the early ‘00s, around the same time she and Richie were on ‘The Simple Life.’ The home was even featured in the program, and it gave viewers a perfect example of how the other half lives.
Living in luxury
Many of the home’s furnishings showcased Paris’ high-end taste and love of herself. Sofas worth thousands of dollars sat in the same room as a portrait of the socialite, reminding everyone exactly whose house it was.
Of course, that wasn’t the only thing about the property that made it notable. Like many celebrity homes, it had rooms dedicated to things most people would never be able to afford, from a cinema system to a nightclub. Paris didn’t do things by halves here, and she didn’t care who knew that.
Out with the old
As much as Hilton may have loved the property and all the parties she threw in it, she decided she couldn’t live there forever. So, in 2007, she sold the house for $3.87 million. All the furnishings were included in the price, which meant future residents could enjoy getting to live like Paris once had.
While it might have seemed like a waste of money to give up her possessions like that, Hilton could easily afford to replace everything in her new place. Plus, she wanted a fresh start.
A new beginning
After bidding farewell to her place in Hollywood Hills, Hilton took up residence in a mansion in Beverly Hills. The new house was a short move away from her old home, but it promised a new beginning for the star.
It was in her old property that she’d faced all her legal problems, including her short stint in jail, so she was ready to move on. The house, which resides in Mulholland Estates, apparently cost her a whopping $5.9 million for nearly 7,000 square feet of land.
Victim of a burglary
Of all the places that Paris has lived over the years, this is perhaps the most famous of them. Unfortunately, the reason for that isn’t a good one. This is the property that was targeted by the “Bling Ring,” a group of burglars who apparently stole as much as $2 million worth of possessions.
Hilton might have had the money to replace her belongings, but that didn’t bring her any comfort. No-one should have their privacy invaded like that, no matter how much they have in the bank.
New York living
As with many celebrities, Hilton rarely stays in one place for long. Her work takes her all over the world, from LA to Ibiza. It seems that Paris was spending quite a lot of time in New York a few years ago because she decided to invest millions into a penthouse apartment.
Paris paid $4.9 million for the two-bedroom property in NoHo – North of Houston Street – down from the $7.5 million it was put on the market for. Clearly, Hilton is one woman who knows how to haggle.
Somewhere in Malibu
Even though she’s owned many properties over the years, Paris still doesn’t seem content with what she has. Earlier in 2019, the socialite was seen house-hunting out in Malibu. Hilton appeared interested in buying something down by the beach, giving her somewhere to enjoy the summer sun.
Although it wasn’t confirmed if she bought the place or what price range she was looking at, we wouldn’t put it past Paris to have agreed on a deal. After all, buying homes seems to be something she’s a professional at now.
Living like dogs
It’s not just Hilton who gets to enjoy her immense wealth. The socialite’s dogs also get to benefit from her riches, and they do so in a way that would make a lot of pooches jealous. It seems that Paris went the extra mile for her four-legged friends by giving them their own mansion in her backyard.
Hilton had a two-story dog house designed and built outside her Beverly Hills mansion, and it’s everything you’d probably imagine it to be. She really went above and beyond for her pets.
A touch of class
When people think of doghouses, something small usually comes to mind. These buildings are intended to keep dogs warm and dry outside, rather than giving them a taste of luxury. However, when you can afford to splash the cash on your pets, why not push the boat out?
Some of the features of this doggy mansion include upholstered beds, air conditioning, and even a balcony. The addition of things like an iron fence and chandelier also add a touch of class to the place, because what dog doesn’t want that?
Paying for the pooches
It’s perhaps not too surprising that Paris spent money giving her dogs a luxury home given how much she bought them for. None of the socialite’s furry companions came particularly cheap, with Hilton spending $13,000 for her Pomeranian, Prince Hilton.
The DJ apparently bought the pup over social media after the original owner included a hashtag of her name in a picture. This isn’t the only dog that Paris has paid good money for, with one pooch allegedly costing $8,000 while another two were reportedly collectively $25,000.
A substantial reward
Hilton cares so much about her pets that she’ll do anything to ensure they come to no harm. That’s why when her dog Tinkerbell was taken in 2004, Paris offered a reward for the animal’s safe return.
Her beloved teacup chihuahua had gone missing when the socialite’s home was robbed, and she could only assume that someone had taken her. So, she put up posters boasting a $5,000 payout if someone brought her pet back home to her. Thankfully, it worked, and she was soon reunited with Tinkerbell.
Filling up the garage
It’s not just homes and animals that Paris likes to spend her money on. It appears that the socialite also loves getting behind the wheel of a car, and her garages boast quite the collection of motors. Well, when you can afford to drive around in style, why not treat yourself?
Hilton is apparently a massive fan of supercars, with things like Ferraris and Lamborghinis firm favorites of the star. However, those are just the tip of the iceberg for Paris when it comes to expensive motors.
Driving in style
Included in Paris’ extensive list of cars is the Bentley Continental GT that she had designed in pink. Able to go from zero to 60 in 3.3 seconds, the basic model reportedly costs several hundred thousand dollars.
However, that’s without the $200,000 diamond-encrusted dashboard that Hilton apparently had added as an extra. A Land Rover Range Rover estimated at nearly $100,000, a Rolls Royce Ghost believed to be $324,000, and a Lexus LFA reportedly costing $350,000 have also been bought by Paris in the past.
Wearing her money
You don’t make as big a splash as Paris Hilton if you don’t look the part every time you leave the house. With so much money in the bank, the socialite has always been able to afford the right clothes for the job.
Whether she’s needed a designer dress for an event, or she just wanted to look party-ready at a DJ gig, her outfits have always been on point. Of course, some of these looks have cost more than others, including one ensemble in particular.
Looking like a million bucks
Several years ago, Paris was pictured wearing an outfit popularly known as the Million Dollar Dress. Obviously, the name is a bit of a giveaway that the item costs quite a bit of money. However, it’s technically not as expensive as it makes out to be.
The dress is closer in value to a quarter of a million, thanks to all the Swarovski crystals adorning it. 500,000 of these gems make the outfit worth as much as $270,000, which is still a lot to pay for one dress.
While Hilton’s persona and love for controversy have gotten her far, she probably wouldn’t still be riding high today if it wasn’t for her business empire. The socialite has been incredibly smart in the way she’s spread her brand around the world and kept the money rolling in.
In recent months, that’s included investing in companies that she believes can benefit her and vice versa. She’s pumped money into things like Glam App, which she knows has the potential for success if they get that added push.
The price of love
Paris’ love life is something that’s often talked about by the media. In 2018, it seemed like things were finally going to work out for her after she and Chris Zylka got engaged. However, the duo sadly parted ways at the end of the year, making Hilton a single woman once again.
Of course, while she was willing to split from Zylka, she was more hesitant to give up on her engagement ring. Considering it was reportedly valued at $2 million, we’re not surprised Paris didn’t want to let go.
Taking a step back
She might not be the center of attention like she used to be, but that doesn’t mean that Paris Hilton has faded into obscurity. Most of her ventures are now done away from the spotlight, from her DJ gigs to her business deals.
While she does still crop up from time to time, the socialite seems to prefer working more behind the scenes nowadays. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, especially as her bank balance continues to do just fine. She won’t be going bankrupt anytime soon.
