The ultimate backpacking through Europe itinerary

Sometimes you don’t want a vacation that involves jetting away to some distant, sunny land, where you get to soak up the rays poolside in a luxury hotel for two weeks. Sure, this does sound good, but it’s also great to have a vacay that’s a little more stripped back. Something that gives you a different view of the world, and allows you to enjoy the simplicity of things.
With that in mind, we think that one of the best travel experiences you can have is to go on a backpacking adventure. This might not sound like your cup of tea, but you shouldn’t overlook the great benefits of a vacation like this. If you want to have the most memorable backpacking trip through Europe, you need the perfect itinerary, and we’ve got it for you!

Start in Spain

Start your European backpacking adventure in Spanish capital Barcelona. The Catalonian city is one of the most beautiful and diverse in Europe. It’s also hugely easy to navigate as well, and this means that after a few days you can easily get the train out to Granada. This is the perfect city for a spot of fabulous sightseeing, before bussing it to Cordoba, and then taking the train onto Seville. Spend a couple of days here enjoying the cultural heritage and historical importance of the city. End your Spanish experience with a couple of days in Malaga, where you can enjoy some stunning museums, and copious hostel pub crawls!

Fly to Austria

After leaving Spain, you should fly to Austria, and spend a couple of days enjoying the gorgeous capital city of Vienna. This beautiful city is one of the most underappreciated in Europe and will be a real eye-opener for you. There is an epic food and drink scene in Vienna, and you should take the time to indulge while you’re here – don’t forget to wrap up warm as well! Vienna is arguably the music capital of Europe, so while you’re here, you need to take the time to visit the House of Music.

Visit Prague

From Vienna make sure you catch the train to Prague, perhaps the finest city in Europe! The capital of the Czech Republic is a stunningly beautiful city and the perfect place to find cheap beer and stunning architecture. Like walking into a fairytale, Prague is the city that has it all, so make sure you spend at least a couple days here. The National Gallery is well worth a visit here as well, so be sure you don’t miss it!

Check out Italy

Then it’s onto the jewel of Europe, Italy. Start off in Bologna, where you can enjoy mouthwatering pizza, and visit the fifth largest church in the world. From here you should head over to Florence, and enjoy some of the stunning architecture, not to mention the amazing galleries and natural beauty; there is also plenty of stunning nightlife in Florence too. From here you can take the train to Rome, perhaps the most beautiful and impressive of all Italian cities. This place is a historical treasure, full of beauty, variety, and sensational food as well.

As you can see, there is so much to enjoy and experience on your European adventure. Backpacking across these European countries, and cities is the perfect way of enjoying all that Europe has to offer and making sure you open your eyes to new cultures. And that’s before we even get to the likes of London and Paris!
