Fun college activities for introverts

When people think about the college experience, they probably think about fraternity and sorority parties, loud music, and lots of people. However, if you’re not the kind of person who enjoys those sorts of things, then it can be quite daunting thinking about what else there is on offer. You’ll be pleased to know that not everyone who attends college is inherently an extrovert. After all, people attend so that they can get themselves a degree to eventually go on to have a good job. So, if you consider yourself to be more of an introvert, then here are some fun college activities you might enjoy doing – no big crowds of people in sight!

Cook or bake

Whether you want to take the plunge and join a club or you simply want to take advantage of the peace and quiet at your place, it’s totally up to you. The great thing about cooking and baking is it can be a totally solitary activity, or you can get together with a few select friends and make something nice for everyone. A popular college trend is for everyone to take turns cooking a collective meal, even if it’s only once a week, that way it gives people a day off.

Photography

This is another activity you can choose to do by joining a club or society, or you can teach yourself moment by moment. There are plenty of sources online that can guide you through learning photography. A common misconception is that you need a professional camera in order to get great shots, you don’t, and if it’s something you think you’ll enjoy, then it won’t matter too much. Once you’ve gone and got your shots, you can come home and edit them to your heart’s content.

Join an exercise class

If you want to pursue a healthier lifestyle and don’t want to lock yourself away totally, then you can join an exercise class. Most exercise classes don’t require a friend, and you won’t need to talk to other people unless you want to. If you check the schedule, fewer people tend to go the earlier the class, as you may want to avoid the excessive crowds that come with an overly popular class.

Movies and TV shows

Either there will be a society dedicated to particular genres or cult classics which you can choose to join, as chances are, many of then will be introverts too, and you can decide whether to interact or not. Otherwise, you can treat this as an individual activity within the confines and safety of your own room. With so many streaming services available, you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to watching movies or TV shows.

Writing a blog

One great thing to do these days is to start your own blog. There are so many different things involved, and you can talk about anything you want, it’s a common misconception that you have to be an English major to write about anything, anyone can do it! You don’t need to go anywhere, and you can talk about anything.
There are plenty of activities you can choose from, it all depends on what you want to do, but there are plenty of like-minded people around, you just need to know where to look. College doesn’t have to be so daunting if you’re an introvert!
